I have really enjoyed studying at such a central, convenient location. And the campus is so new;it's a very modern environment to learn in. I found my classes in the Diploma of Communication to be really interesting. There is a real mixture of nationalities and it is a fun place to be.

I initially chose Macquarie City Campus because it was a really modern campus and the perfect location for me, so convenient in the centre of Sydney. The classes are small and you get the opportunity to learn with students from many other countries, as well as learn about them, which is great as I intend to eventually travel around the world.

Course: Diploma of Commerce, SIBT at Macquarie City Campus
From: Australia

I am really enjoying studying at the city location. I find it convenient as it is located above the train station and the shopping is fantastic! SIBT is a great pathway as the smaller class sizes make learning easier with more teacher student interaction. In three years I will graduate with a diploma and a degree. Once I complete Uni I would like to become an accountant.

I am very pleased to be studying at SIBT, Macquarie City Campus. The campus is located in the heart of Sydney, so you can get here from pretty much anywhere. I am actually staying in the city at the moment so it does not cost me a cent for transportation. It's one of the advantages of studying in the city. I like the small class sizes and the students are from many different countries, so I am making friends from all around the world. My career all starts here at SIBT, Macquarie City Campus.

Name: Adele Staniland
Course: Diploma of Business Administration, Bachelor of Business Administration
From: Australia

Adele graduated in November 2005. She is currently working as a Search Marketing Executive for Yahoo7

I missed out on entry to my preferred degree course and rather than waste time doing something I didn’t want to study I completed a SIBT Diploma of Business Administration in two semesters! SIBT provided me with an alternative entry to University and this motivated me to work hard to achieve my goals.

From: Australia

Upon graduation Bianca worked as an Accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers and is now a Fund Accountant for Colonial First State Property.

Without the assistance from the staff and lecturers at SIBT I would not have had this great career in Accountancy. SIBT improved my study methods and this helped me to do well at Macquarie. I met many great friends during my time at SIBT (and yes, 8 years on we still keep in touch!).

After five years studying in Australia Moosi now works in Cape Town for a Consulting Actuaries firm. He specialises in Employee benefits.

International employers value my Macquarie degree and the skills I gained when studying in Australia. SIBT was a great experience. If I had gone straight into university I think I would have struggled – it would have been harder for me to adjust. It’s great how SIBT students have access to Macquarie’s resources, like the library and the gym. SIBT also gave me a social network. The people I met at SIBT became my friends, and we studied together all through university.

The smaller classes and great lecturers really helped me to get involved in my study and to enjoy learning. I found my degree at Macquarie challenging however very rewarding. The SIBT experience really helped me prepare for University and beyond.

My life in Australia has been amazing. It was initially challenging because I had to adapt to a new culture but now I have friends from all over the world. I completed my Advanced Diploma at SIBT and the things I appreciated most were the personal contact I had with my lecturers and the small class sizes. The lifestyle at Macquarie campus also helped me to meet friends and when I was at SIBT I joined the Japanese and Spanish clubs, listened to live music and had BBQ’s with the Fix Club.

From: Indonesia

Donny lives in Seattle, Washington and has a great career working for Microsoft Headquarters as a Software Engineer.

I am enjoying working and living in the US. I earn a good living and have even met Bill Gates! When I first came to SIBT back in 2000 I never thought this could happen. My English was not the best but the smaller classes and great lecturers made me feel comfortable and I learnt to ask lots of questions. The best thing about SIBT is that you are guaranteed entry to 2nd year Macquarie.

Course: Diploma of Commerce, Bachelor of Commerce
From: Korea

My English language was not the greatest when I first came to Australia so I completed a six month, full time English course, prior to starting my Diploma at SIBT and this really assisted me with my later studies. I like the flexibility that SIBT offers. I chose to Fast Track my studies and this meant that I completed my SIBT Diploma in only 8 months. I am now enjoying my second year at Macquarie University and will be participating in the University student exchange program to study in America next year. When I graduate I am planning to become a qualified Accountant.

Course: Advanced Diploma of Commerce
From: Korea

Jay graduated from SIBT in 2008 with Advanced Diploma of Commerce.
He is currently studying Bachelor of Commerce; Accounting at Maquarie City Campus and working part-time in retail.

I began my study at SIBT in 2007 after taking a few years off after high school. From my experience, I really enjoyed having smaller classes, flexible time-table and staff members who were always willing to help. As long as your motivation level remains high and you are willing to get involved in class, I believe SIBT provides everything else for you to reach your potential. SIBT is a place where you can meet new friends from all over the world and enhance your language, as well as your people skills.

SIBT provides a great stepping stone to students who aim for academic success. I was so nervous when I first arrived in Australia, young, not knowing anyone and new to the country. The small classes in SIBT helped me to build strong relationships with my classmates and lecturers, as the same time learning and adopting the University system. I wouldn’t have achieved the same level of success without the pathway in SIBT.

Nirdesh Sriwastavi

Name: Nirdesh Sriwastav
Course: Diploma of Computing, Bachelors of Information Technology
From: Nepal

I had certain expectations of Australia and those are being met. I’m working at KFC at Town Hall – I just walked in with my resume and asked if they had work. Some things are really different from Nepal: the way we study in groups and with ongoing assignments and tests - the teachers are really friendly too. I am really, really enjoying the life in Australia – I want to get my Bachelors and then stay for a while before returning home. The classes are quite small at SIBT so I’ve made friends from everywhere – I even speak some Chinese now. I am very thankful to all the teachers and students for creating just a friendly atmosphere on the university campus.

Ilya

Name: Ilya Jastsenkov
Course: Diploma of Commerce, Bachelor of Applied Finance
From: Russia

The weather is so, so good here and you feel as though you’re really breathing oxygen, but for me the most important thing is the education – the education system and the quality of teaching is really very high. The lecturers don’t push you here, so you push yourself instead; this is very good. I’ve changed in to Accounting: I love Finance and am going to do Applied Finance when I continue at Macquarie in July. I decided to go to Australia to study and found out about Macquarie University in Russia; it’s a very strong university. And how cool is it when you sit by the lake and study? It’s paradise. It’s a very nice country and people know how to enjoy themselves – their understanding of things is different to people in Russia so at the beginning it was quite difficult to have a conversation. But, I’ve made lots of friends at SIBT – from everywhere.

SIBT gave me the skills and knowledge to do well at Macquarie. Being based on campus, I quickly assimilated into campus life. It wasn’t a huge change from Diploma to Degree – I even had some of the same lecturers!

Studying at SIBT is a great introduction to Macquarie University and the Australian learning environment. I really enjoy it! My lecturers were very helpful and motivating. I think the transition into 2nd year university has been easy because I am familiar with the campus, and studied first year Macquarie University subjects at SIBT, and many of the lecturers are the same.

I also like the fact that as a SIBT student I am able to use all the Macquarie University facilities. I joined the gym on campus and am a member of the Badminton, Basketball and Tennis clubs. This has helped me to meet many friends from all around the world.
